Salary Level: PT 10 - Range is $60.14/hour - $74.54/hour depending on verifiable like experience
This position is responsible for installing, monitoring, and maintaining the integrity and availability of the Districts networking system for optimum efficiency and effectiveness; providing technical support services to all District locations for the installation and administration of the Districts Institutional Network (I-Net), Wide Area Network (WAN), and Local Area Networks (LANs), including the Districts Intranet and Internet services, operating systems, and networking equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS1. Monitors and maintains network operations to ensure the Districts Institutional Network (I-Net), Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Networks (LANs) are functional on a continuous basis; ensures appropriate network standards and support/maintenance procedures are being followed; installs and administers the I-NET, WAN and LAN hardware and software
2. Serves as a resource person to District staff in the use of network related equipment and associated software packages; provides consulting and troubleshooting activities for network services; makes necessary repairs; works with District technical staff in the installation and troubleshooting of network equipment (routers, switches, wireless equipment, servers, etc.)
3. Installs upgrades and configures changes to network hardware and software; assists District staff in researching, purchasing and upgrading network equipment; evaluates specialized software packages to determine their applicability for District use and makes recommendations; acts as a liaison between users and vendors regarding network issues
4. Prepares and maintains documentation of the Districts I-NET, WAN, and LANs; prepares and maintains assigned reports and logs of pertinent departmental and network information
5. Maintains operations and backups of SQL Server databases; monitors and maintains all databases to ensure optimum efficiency; applies all necessary upgrades and patches to database servers in order to ensure services meet District requirements
6. Attends meetings, workshops, and seminars to maintain knowledge of current technology trends and advancements in network hardware, SQL database, and connectivity; updates knowledge and skills necessary for success in the position by participating in professional development activities as needed or as assigned
7. Assists in the development of appropriate user manuals; assists in long-range planning of District networking needs
8. Assists with voice telecommunication problem resolution as it pertains to the Districts I-NET networking systems network
9. Assists the Security Analyst with maintenance of network security; firewall security; and the development and implementation of network security procedures and guidelines
10. Maintains various cloud computing applications; assists the Security Analyst with monitoring of individual user utilization of existing District networking services, ensuring productive and cost-effective use, and compliance with District Acceptable Use Policy under supervision and according to department policy.
11. Responds to technology hotline networking questions and problems; assists appropriate Desktop technicians during peak workloads and absences; assists with entering and maintaining user profiles and network access
12. Assists the Security Analyst in maintaining anti-virus protection for all servers and network equipment
OTHER JOB DUTIES1.Assists the legal department in performing forensic research of workstations and network access
2. Performs special projects and related duties as assigned, on a temporary basis
3. Regular, reliable, predictable attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work
CONDITIONS

Education and ExperienceAssociates degree or equivalent technical training in computer science, data processing or related field and four years experience in network micro-computer operations, Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work
Licenses/Special Requirements
Valid Washington drivers license and access to personal transportation
CCNA certification, preferred
MS Windows certification, preferred
MS SQL certification, preferred
Fingerprints and successful WSP and FBI background clearance/Sexual Misconduct clearance

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be evaluated by the Human Resources
Department for comparability
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of network operating systems (Windows preferred)
Knowledge of microcomputers (Wintel) and applied word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications.
Knowledge and understanding of various physical-networking topologies (e.g.Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, etc.)
Knowledge of wireless networking connectivity (i.e. Cisco, HP)
Knowledge of firewall and related security technologies
Knowledge of Internet and intranet technologies and applications
Knowledge of Network Servers (Web, Authentication, E-Mail, SMTP, DNS, etc.) and their functions
Knowledge of Windows operating systems software
Knowledge and understanding in the use and functions of TCP/IP addressing, DHCP connectivity
Knowledge of electronic diagnostic equipment for microcomputer and network equipment
Knowledge installing and configuring network equipment (servers, routers, wireless equipment, firewalls, etc.)
Knowledge of cloud computing applications such as Office 365, Exchange Online, and Azure
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Ability to install and configure network operating systems in a local and wide area environment (Windows, Linux)
Ability to perform testing and problem resolution analysis on various types of microcomputer peripheral equipment and networks
Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently
Ability to obtain, clarify and exchange information
Ability to multi-task
Ability to react quickly and calmly under pressure
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people
