Job SummaryThe Facility Grounds Worker offers a unique, hands-on opportunity to get to know all of Mohave County Buildings.Mohave County Public Works-Facilities Division is looking to hire a Facility Grounds Worker Senior .
Our Mission To provide on-going maintenance, repair, and janitorial services of County owned and leased buildings and grounds. The key objectives are to achieve maximum facility life, facility efficiency, minimum cost of ownership, and to provide a suitable environment for employees to deliver services to the Public. Responsibilities include providing on-going maintenance, repair and remodel of County owned and leased buildings and grounds as well as routine maintenance and repair services for plumbing, carpentry, electrical trades and occasional Janitorial services.
Facility Grounds Worker -> Starting Salary, $18.22/hr. Facility Grounds Worker Senior -> Starting Salary, $20.09/hr. Work Monday-Friday.
Most weekends and holidays Off.
Schedule does involve being "On-Call" which could include weekends and holidays.
U p to a week travel possible as we have buildings located in northern Arizona (strip area) that require maintenance as needed.
Travel to outlying county locations as needed, including Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City, and other areas of Mohave County as required while operating a Mohave County provided vehicle.
Must be able to travel throughout different county locations. Working conditions would include but not limited to: Work outdoors performing moderate to strenuous manual labor in varying weather conditions, including strong winds, extreme heat to extreme cold temperatures.
The ability to frequently be able to lift 25lbs up to 150lbs or more.
This position requires time spent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, bending, climbing ladders, and confined spaces.
Essential Job Functions As directed, assist with: - Performs a variety of construction and maintenance work including air conditioning, carpentry, heating, electrical, plumbing, cement, roof repair work, apply sealants to prevent water intrusion, and perform acoustical ceiling work (T-bar ceilings)
- Finishing, painting, and welding in the maintenance and repair of buildings, air conditioning and heating units.
- Alters and repairs buildings, floors, roofs, walls, and related structures.
- Installs, repairs, and alters electrical installations, components, and equipment per code requirements. Installs or replaces electrical components such as wire, conduit, outlets, lighting fixtures, lighting ballasts, switches, circuit breakers, power appliances, timers and related equipment in existing or new electrical systems. Performs preventive maintenance of same.
- Forms, pours and finishes concrete floors and structures.
- Installs and repairs plumbing systems. Plumbing system work includes fixture and trim work on sinks, toilets, urinals, kitchen equipment, faucets, garbage disposals, roof drains and sinks, mop sinks, p-traps and trap primers, clean-outs, and landscaping systems and controls.
- Installs and repairs plaster and stucco materials on interior and exterior walls.
- Performs general carpentry tasks including, but not limited to, framing walls, adjusting doors/frames, and roof sheathing repair and replacement.
- Performs Gypsum Board (sheetrock) work including installing new Gypsum Board, taping, and texturing. Also includes Gypsum Board Wall Repair work.
- Prepare and Paint or refinish interior and exterior walls, ceilings and surfaces.
- Estimates, performs cost comparisons, selects and requisitions appropriate materials to complete work assignments. Picks up and delivers materials and supplies to job site.
- Plans and completes work assignments in accordance with blueprints, diagrams, specifications, oral and written instructions and in accordance with the standard procedures and safety precautions of the trade.
- Utilizes a variety of maintenance and grounds keeping equipment and mechanical hand and power tools in performing work assignments.
- Maintains daily work records of work done, material used and time spent.
- Maintains an adequate supply of materials, equipment and tools required to fulfill work assignments.
- Cleans, maintains and services required equipment and tools used during performance of work assignments.
- Performs other maintenance work assignments as required in other areas of general maintenance and construction.
- In absence of supervisor, provides functional supervision to associate personnel, determines priority and scheduling and assigning of work.
- Makes decisions on appropriate repair and service measures to take and evaluate service and repair work performed by subordinate personnel for adherence to established practices and procedures.
- May be responsible for the security of the county lock system which includes developing codes for a master key system, pining locks and cutting keys for system, and repairing, repining and replacing locks.
- Operates various machinery such as, mowers, edgers, trimmers, seeders, saws, and tillers.
- Installs and maintains sprinkler systems.
- Ensures the adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
- Communicates and acts in a professional manner with the public, co-workers, and work contacts.
Minimum Qualifications Required Minimum Education, Experience, and Training : Facility Grounds Worker: Entry level work experience.
- High School diploma /GED (General Education Degree).
- Minimum three (3) years successful experience in the general maintenance/construction area with possible focus on a specialty area such as facility’s grounds keeping, and/or parks maintenance.
- Completion of trade school and apprenticeship program in the building maintenance/construction trades.
- OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.
Facility Grounds Worker Senior: One -year with Facility Grounds Worker experience including.
- High School diploma/GED (General Education Degree)
- At least five (5) years successful increasingly responsible experience in the general maintenance/construction area and possibly with a focus on a specialty area such as facilities, locksmith, grounds keeping, or parks maintenance as a Facility/Grounds Worker.
- Or when filled from outside, at least five (5) years increasingly responsible experience as a Facility/Grounds Worker or related field involving the maintaining, constructing, repairing, and modifying facilities and buildings with a focus on a specialty area such as Locksmith; Grounds keeping.
- OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENT - Must pass drug screen post offer.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Materials, techniques, practices and procedures of general maintenance and construction tasks to include carpentry, electrical, heating and air conditioning, plumbing, cement work, welding, locksmith, grounds keeping, and construction and renovation of buildings and facilities and property.
- The use and care of a variety of maintenance, construction, grounds keeping equipment mechanical hand and power tools.
- The occupational hazards and safety requirements of maintenance, construction, grounds keeping and related trades.
- Local building codes as they related to construction and renovation of facilities.
- The maintenance, construction, installation and repair of building structures and related furnishings, and grounds keeping work assignments including layout and estimation and selection of materials.
- Safe, effective operation and maintenance of hand and power tools and equipment used in maintenance, construction, grounds keeping, and related trades.
- Perform work accurately and in accordance with established standards from blueprints, diagrams, specifications and oral and written instructions.
- Safely and effectively service, maintain and repair assigned tools and equipment in accordance with standard repair, maintenance, operation, and safety procedures.
- Estimate material quantities and labor hours required to perform work assignments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date chronological records and documentation.
- Direct, train and supervise the activities of assigned personnel.
- Interpret and apply established guidelines and procedures as provided in trade manuals, building codes and related documentation.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associate personnel, personnel of other County departments and general public.
