ABOUT THE POSITION

The Marin County Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program is seeking a dedicated and passionate Senior Nutritionist to lead our team in providing essential nutrition support and education to our community. In this pivotal role, you will lead and mentor WIC staff, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery while fostering a collaborative and supportive workplace culture. You will develop and implement nutrition education services tailored to the diverse needs of our WIC participants, empowering families with the knowledge and resources to make informed dietary choices. Additionally, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing service quality, monitoring program outcomes, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This part time (0.8 FTE) Senior Nutritionist position is within the Public Health Division of the Health and Human Services Department at the County of Marin.

Fixed-Term: This is a 36 month fixed-term position. This position is budgeted through September 30, 2028. However, there may be opportunities for the hired individual during this time-period to move to a regular, ongoing position as other vacancies or promotional opportunities occur, or the position may be funded and convert to an ongoing position. Fixed-term employment ends when the position’s funding finishes, or the work is completed. Employees in these positions are exempt from the County’s policies regarding lay-off order and reduction-in-force rights.

Bilingual Testing:
Bilingual Testing/Certification: The successful candidate must possess bilingual skills and must demonstrate proficiency in both Spanish and English prior to appointment. A bilingual proficiency exam will be administered to ensure the candidates possess the appropriate skill level to meet the requirements.

Minimum Qualifications and Certifications & Licenses
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge and abilities listed. Typically, equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, public health or a closely related field and one year of experience in public health nutrition, perinatal nutrition, or social services community nutrition programs depending on assignment.

Certificates and Licenses
Current registration as a Dietitian or Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
