Pay Range: $26.57/hr. - $33.21/hr.

A Fleet Crewleaderjob is available with the City of Fort Worth Police Department / Operational Command-Fleet Services Division. The division is responsible for the installation of emergency lighting, communications, and computer equipment into police vehicles. The division also provides troubleshooting and repair of this equipment during the vehicle’s use in the department.
Minimum Qualifications: - HS Diploma/GED supplemented by additional specialized training in automotive/electrical repair or a related field.
- Four (4) years of automotive/mechanical repair experience including one (1) year of lead responsibility.
- Four years of emergency vehicle equipment and mobile computer troubleshooting experience.
- Must pass Drug Screen, Physical, Tuberculosis screening.
Preferred Qualifications: - Four years of emergency vehicle equipment and mobile computer troubleshooting experience.
- Knowledge of operations, services and activities of an equipment services shop.
- Methods and techniques of diagnosing, repair, and maintenance of emergency equipment, mobile computer systems and vehicle electrical systems.
- Experience with common computer software and fleet management programs.
- Knowledge of city and department policies and procedures.
The Fleet Crewleader job responsibilities include: - Prioritizes, assigns, leads, reviews and participates in the work of subordinate employees responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of emergency equipment and vehicles
- Identifies resource needs and reviews needs with appropriate management staff. Allocates resources accordingly and arranges for repair or setup of systems.
- Performs more technical and complex tasks of the work unit including inspecting equipment, recommending needed repairs, and scheduling equipment repairs with outside sources.
- Provides technical assistance to electronics technicians in diagnosing and repairing complex emergency equipment problems.
- Monitors and evaluates quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of assigned service delivery methods and procedures. Works with employees to improve emergency equipment maintenance and repair services.
- Enters work order requests, labor hours and related equipment repair data into a computer fleet management program. Reviews technician’s entries for completeness and accuracy.
- Establishes and monitors shop preventative maintenance programs. Oversees the maintenance of repair tools and test equipment.
- Participates in the selection of PD Electronics Technicians. Provides or coordinates employee training. Recommends employees who have made significant efforts and works with employees to correct performance deficiencies.
Working Conditions Position typically requires touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to low voltage current, moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.
Physical Demands Medium work - Depending on assignment, position may exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
