POSITION SUMMARY

The Development Services Department's Housing and Community Development Division seeks an Assistant Manager.

This is responsible technical, fiscal, supervisory and administrative work of considerable difficulty assisting in planning, directing and coordinating activities for the Housing and Community Development Division.

An employee in this classification is responsible for assisting in the planning, budgeting, organizing, directing, coordinating and supervising of the various projects and activities of the Housing and Community Development Division; and reviewing the work of professional, paraprofessional, supervisory, technical and clerical support staff. The employee is responsible for assisting in the developing and updating of programs, policies and work procedures necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the Division. Work also includes fiscal management and oversight of all state and federal grants, and assisting with efforts to educate the public regarding state and federal housing and housing related issues as a means of increasing affordable housing support to income-eligible residents of the City of Fort Lauderdale.

The employee must utilize specialized knowledge and experience in conjunction with City, federal and state regulations and procedures to meet job objectives. Work is reviewed through written reports, conferences, and observation of results achieved.

This is a non-classified "at-will" position and not subject to Civil Service Rules or any collective bargaining agreement. It is in management category 2 for benefit purposes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in public or business administration, planning, urban studies, political science or other closely related field Five (5) years progressively responsible professional planning, housing or community development experience performing technical phases of both city planning and socio-economic development activitiesMinimum of one (1) year supervisory experienceMinimum of 5 years experience with SHIP, CDBG, and HOME funding sourcesIf claiming Veteran's Preference, candidates must attach a DD214 Member 4 form, and the City of Fort Lauderdale's veteran's preference claim form ( J-204) . to the online application.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1.. Minimum of 3 years knowledge/experience in the following Housing programs:

As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.
