Position DescriptionPerforms specialized, complex work to assist in the organization and implementation of various projects and programs. Work is performed under supervision within established guidelines with performance based on overall results obtained.
Major/Essential Functions- Helps patients explore financial options for covering health care costs.
- Guides, supports, and assists patients in navigating the complexities of health care billing and insurance processes.
- Interviews uninsured/under-insured patients to determine eligibility for Medicaid or Financial Assistance program benefits.
- Assists with application processes to facilitate accurate and appropriate submissions. Follows-up on submitted applications to insure timely billing or adjustment processing.
- Maintain patient billing accounts and perform related functions to accomplish this task such as: patient registration, insurance follow-up, financial screening of unfunded patients, answering patient billing inquiries, collection of unpaid balances and posting of payments.
- Must pass Texas Department of Health and Human Services background check and training to become a certified Case Assistance Navigator.
Required QualificationsHigh school plus five years experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
