Job Description The Training Support Technician involves day-to-day operational support for the Law Enforcement and Protective Services programs to include support for students, customers, instructors, and training managers. Duties include assisting training programs with operational support to include training coordination and class setup/delivery, training site preparation, instructional support, and preventative maintenance and minor repairs to training props and/or equipment and act as a safety observer during hands-on field training sessions. This position will support training deliveries at the Public Safety Training Center, Physical Skills Training Center, Primary Firearms Range, Secondary Firearms Range, Drive Track, Skills Pad, Demolition Range, UXO Pit, and other training areas to include offsite locations. In addition, this position will assist with third-party facility usage requests by conducting facility preparation, pre/post site inspections, periodic site monitoring, and act as a safety liaison while ensuring third parties adhere to proper usage guidelines. The Training Support Technician will also perform general maintenance tasks, maintain inventory logs, and track assigned assets and materials.
This position reports to the Program Training Director.
Required Qualifications:• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of general maintenance, mechanical, and/or construction experience.
Equivalency: None.
Required Licenses/Certifications:• Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:• CDL endorsement.
• Motorcycle license endorsement.
• Experience with loading, pulling, and backing various types of trailers.
Physical Requirements:• May require walking long distances and standing for extended periods of time.
• Some lifting/carrying of classroom/presentation materials (i.e. ability to lift, carry, load or unload up to 75 lbs. of instructional materials) with or without assistance.
• Physical conditioning consistent with setting up classrooms and movement of training equipment.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

• Ability to use gardening equipment such as tractors, cultivators, edgers, weed eaters and power mowers.
• Ability to provide simple vehicle maintenance.
• Knowledge of herbicide, cleaning solutions, and other solvents use and/or storage requirements.
• Ability to operate the RELLIS Reservations System.

• This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.
• As part of TEEX’s mission of providing training, developing practical solutions, and saving lives; this position could be required, if called upon, to deploy within the State of Texas as directed by this position’s Division Director/HQ Department Head.
• Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle and/or flying on commercial airlines.
• This position requires travel up to 25% to other locations.
• This position may direct and/or evaluate the work of others.
Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:LEX Training Program Support - 90%• Assists in preparing vehicle maintenance, surplus, and other specialized reports.
• Assist with preparing, inventorying, and auditing training equipment/supplies.
• Assists with project budgeting for training prop operations.
• Assists in setting up building classrooms, outdoor classrooms, graduation ceremonies, and driving track courses.
• Performs firearms range setup and light maintenance, changing firearms target backers, replenishes supplies.
• Keeps storage areas organized and operates brass sweeper.
• Procures equipment, parts, and supplies necessary for facilities repair and maintenance.
• Prepares purchase requests for supplies and parts as necessary, arranges for supplies to be shipped or by picking them up directly.
• Supports computer installation, transporting surplus, errands, minor cleaning.
• Demonstrates use of project equipment, serves as an observer, records consumables used during training evolutions, and assists with any other training programs with training completion.
• Conducts and/or assists instructional staff with delivery of classroom/field instruction.
• Delivering/pickup of class materials and equipment to various training locations.
• Operate motor vehicles and other automotive equipment.
• Light hauling, tractor operation, and similar work; services and makes temporary and minor repairs on the foregoing equipment.
• Restoring class materials from shipper to warehouse, picking up class supplies from warehouse or local vendor for shipment, picking up other supplies as needed.
• Loads training equipment/supplies in vehicles/trailers and delivers when necessary.
• Cuts and edges grass using power mower, edger, weed eater, blower and rakes leaves.
• Acquires, mixes, and applies herbicides and pesticides.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and props.
