IT Director - ATC to manage through subordinates a large and experienced technical team. This position will lead all strategic and operational aspects of technology for the ATC office. This role oversees enterprise-level project leadership and drives Countywide collaboration with internal departments and over 600 external taxing agencies. Key responsibilities include managing enterprise architecture, hybrid cloud infrastructure, business application development, cybersecurity governance, and process automation to ensure the security, scalability, and efficiency of ATC’s systems. The position also serves as a strategic business advisor, aligning technology innovation with ATC’s mission and long-term vision.

Travel: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance.

Minimum Requirements CANDIDATES MUST MEET ALL OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: EXPERIENCE Must possess f our (4) years of experience as an information technology (IT) manager or IT project manager
AND two (2) years of full-scope supervisory experience of IT staff. Supervisory experience may be concurrent with the management experience.
Note: Two years of experience as a business or organizational manager for a large, complex organization may substitute for up to one year of the required IT management experience described above.
EDUCATION Must possess a completed Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Management, Computer Sciences, Business/Public Administration or a related field of study.

Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will be a visionary and results-driven IT executive with a proven track record of leadership within large, complex public sector organizations. This individual will demonstrate expertise in setting enterprise-wide technology strategy, driving digital transformation, and aligning IT investments with organizational priorities to improve service delivery, operational resilience, and public value.
They will possess extensive experience overseeing enterprise technology portfolios, leading modernization and innovation efforts, and managing organizational change across diverse teams. The candidate should bring a deep command of cybersecurity governance, data and analytics strategy, cloud and infrastructure evolution, and enterprise risk management. A history of cultivating high-performing teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation is essential.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills are critical, along with a sophisticated understanding of how business, finance, policy, and technology intersect to support mission-critical outcomes in the public sector.
