About our opportunityYork County Sheriff's Office is excited to hire a full-time, exempt Applications Coordinator II position to join their team! The purpose of this position is to manage active directory, group policy, servers (physical and virtual), server backups, software applications and procedures for the York County Sheriff's Office. Responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer software application programs and systems, including servers, computers and other electronic devices.
Full Salary Range (Pay Grade 117): $56,853.79 - $88,112.66 per year. Salary is determined based on experience.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm weekly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sets up, manages and maintains servers, shared folders, group policy objects and backups.
- Assigns security for users, manages client access, and audits activities.
- Manages the YCSO computer operating systems and software packages, ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations and standards.
- Analyzes technology requirements of York County Sheriff’s Office; develops plans to implement new or modified technologies to help meet departments’ business needs.
- Develops and documents functional and technical specifications based on business requirements.
- Researches, evaluates, recommends and implements new management information system technologies, applications and systems.
- Communicates with consultants and vendors to determine appropriate hardware and software technologies for assigned projects; oversees vendor contracts for hardware and software support and maintenance.
- Performs regular updates to operating systems and software packages along with server updates and maintenance; implements interfaces between operating system and personal computer software applications; develops and coordinates interfaces between the Internet, Intranet and operating system.
- Manages various systems including but not limited to operating systems, computers, servers, printers, software, data terminals in mobile vehicles, office security systems, along with various departmental applications and web applications.
- Manages user activities, assigns and manages security for users, manages client access.
- Performs system operator duties, including but not limited to performing printer interfaces and data backups.
- Analyzes, proposes and implements solutions for end-user service requests, trouble reports, and a variety of problems associated with the York County Sheriff’s Office computing network.
- Supports and maintains state and federal systems and networks (e.g., CODIS) and serves as the point of contact for such systems.
- Performs related work as assigned.
About youEducation and Experience: - Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Technology.
- Six (6) years of experience managing computer operating systems and software packages or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Licenses and Certifications:- Criminal Justice Information Certification (CJIS).

Longevity AllowanceFull-time regular county employees, elected officials, appointed officials, and judges with ten or more years of full time continuous governmental service are eligible to receive a monthly longevity allowance in addition to their regular compensation. Continuous service transferred from employment with another county, municipality, state or a political entity created by the State may contribute toward eligibility for the longevity allowance. Longevity allowances are paid according to the following schedule.

Employees in their new hire six (6) month probationary period shall not be able to use annual leave until they become regular county employees. Employees who are separating from county service shall be paid for all accrued, unused annual leave up to 360 hours provided they give York County as the employer the proper notice as required. Employees in their six (6) month New Hire probationary period who are terminated or separated from employment shall not be paid for accrued annual leave. The maximum amount of annual leave carried into each calendar year is 360 hours.
Earning Rate for Full-Time EmployeesFull-time employees with less than ten years of continuous service earn at the rate of eight hours of paid annual leave for each month of service during a twelve months period. Full-time employees with at least ten years, but less than twenty years of continuous service will earn at the rate of ten (10) hours of paid annual leave for each month of service during a twelve month period. Full-time employees with twenty or more years of service will earn at the rate of twelve (12) hours of paid annual leave for each month of service during a twelve (12) months period.
Sick LeaveFull-time county employees may be entitled to earn sick leave with pay. Employees may accrue up to 1,440 hours of sick leave. Upon termination of employment with the County, employees may not be reimbursed for any unused sick leave. When a paid holiday occurs while an employee is on sick leave with pay, the day may not be charged as sick leave.
Earning Rate of Sick LeaveFull time employees will earn eight hours of sick leave per month of service during a twelve month period.

Training:Quality training and educational programs are available at various times for county employees in order to support workforce development that is consistent with organizational objectives. Training topics may include driver training, CPR/first aid, communication, supervisor training, workplace violence, substance abuse, and various computer related classes.
