An Assistant Water Systems Superintendent position is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department, Plant Operations Division. This role supports the Water Systems Superintendent, by managing the daily operations at one of five Water Treatment Plants. This position provides technical and complex administrative support ensuring that modern, safe, effective, and efficient practices are utilized by personnel, as well as establishes accountability measures consistent with Department and Citywide goals and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications: - Associate's Degree with major coursework in civil engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, biology or a related field
- Five (5) years' of increasingly responsible experience in water treatment operations and maintenance, including two (2) years' of lead or supervisory responsibility
- Possession of a minimum TCEQ Class B Water operators license(or higher)
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications: - TCEQ Class A Wastewater Operator's license
- Previous municipal treatment plant experience
- Previous laboratory experience
The Assistant Water Systems Superintendent job responsibilities include: - Supervises staff, including prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations and ensuring staff is trained
- Maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
- Assists with managing assigned services and activities of one or more water treatment plant(s).
- Monitors and evaluates the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of assigned programs, methods and procedures.
- Assures the quality of water produced meets regulations set by federal, state and city agencies.
- Records and maintains detailed information on the operation of Water Plants.
- Provides staff assistance to the assigned senior management personnel.
Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases and workspace restrictions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
