Description
The JobSan Bernardino County is seeking a skilled and proactive
Systems Support Analyst II to support the operation and maintenance of critical IT infrastructure. This position performs systems programming, database and systems administration, storage management, and data center operations. This role is essential to ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of enterprise technology systems.
Key Responsibilities may include:- Analyze and optimize system hardware, software, and performance and make recommendations for update.
- Install, maintain, and support system software and configurations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system and application issues.
- Manage systems performance, capacity planning, and upgrades.
- Administer LAN/WAN and datacenter environments.
- Monitor and manage enterprise storage systems.
- Perform database design, performance monitoring, and recovery.
Current vacancy exists at the Innovation and Technology Department (ITD). This list may be used to fill other future vacancies throughout the County.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Incumbent must successfully complete a background investigation (fingerprinting and work history/education check) in addition to a job-related physical exam, including a drug test.
Availability: Incumbents must be available to work different shifts. The County pays an hourly differential for those employees working night shifts.
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.
Minimum RequirementsREQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent work experience, within the past five (5) years, performing systems administration at the enterprise-level. Experience must include at least two (2) of the following:
- Administration of Microsoft SQL Server
- Administration of physical and virtual windows servers utilizing Microsoft Server Operating Systems
- Administration of CITRIX or VMware virtualization platforms
- Administration of Web Servers (Windows IIS and/or Apache/WordPress)
- Administration of Enterprise class storage platforms
- Administration of Enterprise data protection/backup systems
- Administration of converged/hyperconverged hardware platforms
- Administration and design of datacenter environmental systems
- Administration of Enterprise Applications
-AND- REQUIRED EDUCATION: Thirty (30) semester/(45 quarter) units of completed, post high-school coursework from an accredited university or technical school in Computer Information Systems, Business/Public Administration, or a closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application unless a degree in one of the listed fields has been conferred.
SUBSTITUTION FOR EDUCATION: An additional year of qualifying experience may substitute for the required education.
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess the following:
- An Associate's Degree (or higher) in computer information systems or a closely related field.
- Knowledge and experience designing and supporting Datacenter environmental systems and equipment such as power, cooling, and fire suppression systems.
- Experience designing and supporting high-availability infrastructure using the following technology: Microsoft clustering, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft IIS, VMWare virtualization platform, XenServer virtualization platform, Nutanix, HPE 3Par and VEEAM.
- Ability to program in Microsoft C# and experience with HPE C700 blades and enclosures desired for positions at ARMC.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution.
