The City of Chandler Management Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as an Environmental Services Program Coordinator. The position is scheduled to work Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.

Who we are
The City of Chandler Management Services Department consists of 71.625 full time equivalents (FTE) and includes Administration, Accounting, Budget, Purchasing, Central Supply, Tax and License, Utility Services, and Environmental Management. The Environmental Management Division consists of 5 positions and provides environmental (air, water, stormwater and waste) compliance guidance and oversight to city operations and facilities. This includes management of the City’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Permit, review environmental due diligence for property acquisitions, maintain central environmental compliance files, and manage clean-up activities when environmental spills occur on city property and report to the proper regulatory agency.

Who we are looking for
Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking to fill a vacancy in the Environmental Management Division of the Management Services Department. This person will oversee and manage the city's environmental compliance programs to ensure adherence to federal, state and local environmental regulations. Provides city departments with complex technical and compliance advice with regards to environmental regulations and issues and develops and implements environmental programs and projects.

Minimum qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Conservation and Management or a related field; and
• 4 years of experience with regulatory compliance or environmental management activities; and
• Pass a respirator fit testing within 6 months of hire or promotion; and
• A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired qualifications
• Previous experience in municipal government setting;
• Experience in asbestos, stormwater compliance, air quality monitoring, hazardous materials and waste management, underground storage tanks and site investigation/remediation;
• Current certifications including 40-hour HAZWOPER, Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Materials, and EPA RCRA compliance;
• Experience maintaining records and findings, documents, correspondence, and related files and records;
• Experience managing a database of inspections, events, etc. to assist with annual reporting.

This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.
