Vacation & Sick Leave At the City of Buckeye, we understand the vital role that vacation time plays in supporting the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of our employees. Vacation and sick leave accruals begin on the first day of employment and may be used upon accrual. Additionally,
employees receive credit towards vacation leave accruals for years of service with other public sector retirement systems nationwide (not including Federal service). Holidays The City of Buckeye observes eleven holidays per year: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
Retirement This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Contribution is mandatory, and the current contribution rate is 12%, per fiscal year.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesGENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, provides hardware and software support to Information Technology (IT) users, and performs basic maintenance functions for the City's IT systems and specialized department systems.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties

- Provides technical assistance to staff in departments; analyzes problems and implements solutions; provides technical support, analysis, and training in the use of computers and peripheral devices.
- Responds to the needs and inquiries of users; explains IT issues, deploys solutions, and follows up with users to assure the stability and functionality of the users' systems.
- Installs and configures new computers, printers and peripheral devices for IT users.
- Trouble-shoots computers to isolate and diagnose system problems; analyzes personal computer and peripherals' functionality; identifies, locates, resolves and repairs computer problems.
- Maintains and updates IT systems; installs software upgrades, enhancements and revised functions; documents work performed.
- Creates local user accounts and system security for e-mail and file shares.
- Imports, exports and converts data from a variety of sources and formats.
- Resolves network connectivity problems; assists with database and network system administration as directed.
- Performs telecommunications system management duties including support, maintenance, enhancements, diagnosis, use analysis and documentation.
- Collects technical and administrative information and compiles data for reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications & Position RequirementsEducation and Experience: Associate's Degree in Computer Science, and one (1) year of computer hardware and software support work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge and Skills:Knowledge of:- Microsoft Operating Systems and Microsoft Office products.
- City policies and procedures.
- Local Area Network (LAN) principles.
- Local system access, file sharing, and security guidelines and procedures.
- Web server/intranet editing software applications and procedures.
- Telecommunication equipment and peripheral devices.
- Principles of documentation and records management.
Skill in:- Troubleshooting hardware and software issues using basic tools, equipment and procedures for repairing computers, peripheral devices, and telecommunications equipment.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with City employees.
- Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
- Following and effectively communicating technically complex instructions.
12-Month Goals:- Familiarize yourself with City policies and procedures.
- Complete training with senior members of your division in respect to cell phones and Microsoft Intune.
- Take over cell phone procurement and provisioning.
- Complete and stay up to date with Vector LMS and Training, SafePersonnel Edition.
- Familiarize yourself with the many geographical locations within the organization.
- Create support documentation/SOP for customers as well as technical guides for other members of the team.
Additional InformationSpecial Requirements: Possession of a valid Arizona Drivers' License; specific training or certifications may be required. Must successfully pass a background check.
