The Western Regional Center (WRC)is a facility that brings an array of services to the southern portions of Wake County. The Center represents a regional service delivery model that is implemented throughout Wake County to increase access to services for people living and working in the western region (Apex, Cary, Morrisville and surrounding areas) of Wake County. Services from various Wake County departments (Health and Human Services, Housing, Community Services, Environmental Services, Sheriff's Department) and various facility-based partnerships with community service providers provide services onsite and engage the community through the WRC.
In your new role you will provide comprehensive administrative support: public contact, scheduling, problem-solving, meeting coordination, reports, supplies/finance management, communications and general office duties. The Administrative Specialist will monitor the flow of business and strategic plans to support the Regional Director, the operation of the center and coordination of the WRCAC and other partnerships.
This position is ideal for those that enjoy working with independently and as part of a high functioning team. Public contact is a significant function including contact with program staff, managers of other units within the organization as well as representatives external to the organization.
Essential functions;
- Manages access to the Regional Director by screening calls and visitors to determine an appropriate course of action
- Researches and responds to calls that may be sensitive and confidential in nature
- Maintains a calendar and schedules appointments based on knowledge of the Regional Director's responsibilities, center priorities and issues of importance
- Resolves administrative problems that would not typically require the supervisor's involvement and serve as an ambassador for the center
- Coordinates meeting/event logistics including preparing meeting agendas and handouts, formatting presentations and reports
- Act as the office manager including providing reports, monitoring and ordering supplies, process payments, P-Card duties, and act as the human resources liaison when needed

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - High school diploma or GED
- Two years of administrative/office support experience
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Strong business skills to include the use of technology to improve access and efficiency
- Experience in Meeting Management - effectively communicating and managing email group lists and virtual platforms
- Experience in maintaining partnerships and being collaborative across different programs, groups and departments that might have widely varied needs
- Experience in developing budgets, managing expenditures, and ensuring financial accountability
