Job Location: This position will be located at 205 Jefferson St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.
Why you’ll love this position: The Office of Data System Management (ODSM) is responsible for maintaining the P-20 longitudinal data system used for research of student progress and achievement, postsecondary, and workforce preparation, etc. In addition, the office collects and generates data to meet federal reporting requirements and compliance, as well as provide data utilized in research and analysis that impacts policy decision-making. As the technical writer for ODSM, you will collaborate with subject matter experts to create and edit documentation that supports this work.
- Create high-quality documentation, easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and developer guides that meet applicable standards while paying attention to detail.
- Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the applications and to define and document customer business functions and processes.
- Develop, maintain, and implement technical assistance tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications.
- Creating, implementing, and improving DESE web applications’ security policies and secure access documentation.
- Assists with the creation, assignment, and monitoring of work items in ADO.
- Assists with the creation, modification, and processing of access request forms.
- Serve as the DESE contact for local program personnel regarding DESE’s application manager.
- Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot various technical issues.
- Assist users of DESE’s application manager with their account information, granting access to DESE Web Applications, resetting passwords, and addressing daily inquiries such as responding to incoming emails and phone communications.
- Perform and document user acceptance testing of DESE Web Applications.
- Collaborate between application owners and OA-ITSD regarding application access and security.
- Coordinate and participate in testing of systems within web applications.
- Exercises considerable independence, judgment, and initiative in performance of duties; receives general administrative direction.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, especially in translating between program areas and technology and articulating each area’s needs.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.
Minimum Qualifications: - High School Diploma or equivalent certification.
- Two or more years of experience performing progressively responsible support tasks.
