Special Salary Information:
This position is subject to the provisions of the Management Appraisal of Performance Plan (MAPP). Initial salary placement and subsequent salary adjustments will be made in accordance with MAPP guidelines and regulations.

Requirements

Requirements to Qualify:

Option I: Two years of experience, within the last three years, at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Departmental Chief Information Officer I *

Option II: Seven (7) years, within the last eight years, of experience managing the design, development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of large complex information systems** in a large multi-service public- or private-sector organization***. This experience must have included the management of both technical information systems functions and related administrative functions such as budgeting, finance, and personnel.

Special requirement information:
*Experience at the level of Departmental Chief Information Officer I in the County of Los Angeles is defined as u nder executive direction, is responsible for managing the information technology activities for a medium- to large-sized (200+ employees) County department having complex and varied systems; a centralized County department with County-wide system responsibilities; or a large and comprehensive County medical center (500+ patient beds).

**Large complex information systems is defined as: 50 or more employees, or 25 or more employees with extensive service provider contracts, AND providing a full range of IT services including: application development, network administration, data center management, desktop support, help desk, project management, and IT security functions.

***Large, multi-service public or private sector organization is defined as: an agency of at least 300 employees, $50M annual revenue OR budget, AND either multiple governmental programs and services OR multiple lines of business (e.g., private wealth management, brokerage services, and banking; or e-commerce, cloud computing, and digital streaming; or oil & gas extraction, pipeline construction & management, and chemicals storage).

LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS:
II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

Our Assessment Process:

This examination will consist of TWO ( 2) parts:

Part I : A qualifying multiple choice and/or simulation assessment assessing:

Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on Part I in order to advance to Part II.

MULTIPLE-CHOICE AND SIMULATION ASSESSMENTS ARE NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.

Part II : A structured interview, weighted 100%, assessing:

Applicants must meet the Requirements and receive a passing score of 70% or higher on Part II to be placed on the list.

Transfer of Test Components:

If you have taken identical components recently for other exams, your responses may be automatically transferred to this examination. This exam contains test components that might be used on future exams, and your responses could be transferred to that exam.

Test Preparation:

We provide study guides and other test preparation resources to help candidates prepare for employment tests. While the guides may help in preparing for the test, we recommend reviewing all related materials that seem necessary.

Eligibility and Vacancy Information:
Candidates who passed the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. We will use this list to fill vacancies as they occur.

Available Shift:
Candidates may be required to work any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
