Summary

In addition to the current opening, this recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future Business and Finance Officer IV positions within the Water and Land Resources Division (WLRD) or throughout the Department of Natural Resources & Parks (DNRP) over the next six (6) months.

The Hazardous Waste Management Program is looking for a skilled and experienced Finance & Budget Manager (Business and Finance Officer IV) to serve as the Program’s key financial advisor. This is an exciting opportunity to support one of the nation’s leading local government hazardous waste and toxic reduction programs. About the Role

As the Finance & Budget Manager, you will provide expert financial leadership and guidance for the Hazardous Waste Management Program. You will:

The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record of developing effective financial systems and reports, guiding leadership decision-making, and integrating equity into financial planning and resource allocation.

This position follows a hybrid work model, blending remote and in-person work.
About the Team
The Hazardous Waste Management Program serves 2.3 million residents and 70,000 businesses in King County, Washington. The Program’s mission is to protect and enhance public health and environmental quality by reducing risks from the production, use, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Services include household hazardous waste collection and disposal, prevention and education programs, and policy initiatives.

The Program is a regional coalition of participating agencies and is housed within the Water and Land Resources Division (WLRD) of King County’s Department of Natural Resources and Parks. WLRD’s mission is to protect, restore, and manage King County’s water and land using the best available science, innovation, and partnerships.
