This position is Extended Part-time with a schedule requirement of 32 hours per week.

All applicants must be able to pass the Public Safety background check process.

THE POSITION:

This skilled graphic design position supports the Irvine Police Department’s Public Information Office. The role focuses on creating visually compelling materials using Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and other professional design tools. Knowledge of advanced design software beyond tools such as Canva and mobile applications is required.

The successful candidate will be an experienced, self-directed designer capable of creating original, high-impact visual content from concept to completion, including storyboarding, developing and presenting design comps, and producing polished, from-scratch designs with minimal input from the requester.

Event and portrait photography, videography, or copywriting skills are highly desired.

While the work supports public information and media relations efforts, this is not a social media management, public relations, or public information officer role.

Work is performed under the direction of the Media Services Coordinator III and requires demonstrated expertise in professional design, branding, and visual communication.

THE PROCESS:

The selection process may include an examination and background investigation prior to appointment. All applicants must be able to pass the Public Safety background check process. This includes, but is not limited to, the review of legal documents, police and driving records, credit profile, motor vehicle insurance, vehicle operation, prior employment records, and performance reviews.
