Description

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for supervising the operation and maintenance of municipal parking facilities, including associated security guards, contracted security personnel and Police detail security at parking garages. Work is reviewed by a division manager or assistant division manager through observation, reports submitted, and results obtained.

This job classification may be governed by the Personnel Rules, as it is not represented by a collective bargaining unit.

PLEASE NOTE:

This job classification is in Management Category IV for benefits purposes, which includes five (5) additional Management Vacation days per calendar year and a monthly Employee Expense Allowance of $120.00.

JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Have graduated from a standard high school or possess an acceptable G.E.D. certificate from a recognized issuing agency.Have three (3) or more years of experience in varied construction, maintenance, and repair of parking garage facilities and property or other appropriate experience.Three (3) or more years of related supervisory experience. Must have mechanical and electronic knowledge and experience. Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required industry experience. Additional education cannot substitute for the required supervisory experience. Possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Florida Driver's license with an acceptable driving record within 30 days of hire.If claiming Veteran's Preference, candidates must attach a DD214 Member 4 form, and the City of Fort Lauderdale's veteran's preference claim form (J-204) to the online application.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The position involves light physical demands, such as exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
