Description

The Chief Assistant Auditor performs supervisory and responsible professional accounting work in managing internal auditors and accounts payable personnel. This position performs auditing and accounting projects such as producing custom reports and assisting in preparation of the County's annual financial statement. This position also works with outside departments on implementing procedures to safeguard county assets.

Examples of Duties

Supervises and advises Internal Auditors; assists with projects being conducted by Internal Auditors as necessary.

Assists in preparation of the county budget.

Oversees grant accounting and financial reporting; distributing information to employees and departments as necessary.

Manages and supervises capital project accounting, budgeting, and legal compliance within the department and other county departments.

Oversees auditing of court costs and fee reporting, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.

Maintains and manages road bond projects as necessary.

Reconciles Chapter 59 Funds and maintains related documents and records; performs JP consolidated bank reconciliations as necessary.

Assists with preparation of the year-end financial statement.

Provides budget estimates expense and revenue estimates as necessary.

Performs fiscal year end cash reconciliation.

Provides financial analysis as requested by department heads, elected officials, and other County personnel, as requested.

Coordinates and participates in complex financial reviews of organizational and functional activities of County departments and programs to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of management controls over those activities and adherence to established laws, regulations, policies, and procedures in program planning, accounting, custodial, and control activities.

Serves as liaison between County and outside auditors during annual audit.

Regular and punctual attendance is required.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field and minimum five years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
