ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Clark County Water Reclamation District is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Auto & Equipment Technician I/II (CDL) position.
This position will be primarily responsible for:
- Performing routine preventive maintenance and repair work on automobiles, construction equipment and related rolling stock.
- Completing work orders and maintaining accurate records using automated fleet information systems.
- Contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the service unit to its customers by offering suggestions and participating as an active member of the work team.
- Observing safe work methods and utilizing safety equipment related to the work.
- Road testing vehicles and driving trucks and equipment as required.

This recruitment will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience:
Automotive and Equipment Technician I - Equivalent to graduation from high school AND three (3) years of full-time experience in automotive equipment services and repair work. Successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship in the automotive trade may be substituted for the three (3) years of required experience.
Automotive and Equipment Technician II - In addition to the above: Minimum of one (1) year of full-time journey-level experience in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and/or heavy construction equipment. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the apprenticeship program on a year for year basis. Attendance at a recognized trade school is desirable. Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Working Conditions: Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations. Work with exposure to potentially hazardous fuels, oils and solvents.
Licensing and Certification: Must possess an appropriate valid Class C Nevada Driver's License at time of appointment; specified positions may require a Class A license with endorsements to road test and/or regularly operate heavy-duty vehicles and equipment and another license for hazardous materials.
Some positions may require a crane operator's certification through the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operator's (NCCCO) within twenty-four (24) months from the date of hire.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.
Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.
Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination and is subject to random drug testing in accordance with DOT requirements.
