The pay range for SUDPT is $25.23 - $32.28.
The pay range for SUDP is $28.89 - $36.97.


Kitsap Recovery Center (KRC), located in Port Orchard,

provides both inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment services.

KRC is state-approved and utilizes the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) treatment criteria. The facility houses 24 inpatient treatment beds and 12 sub-acute detoxification beds. Employees include treatment staff, administrative support staff and two private consultants contracted to provide medical and dietary advice and assistance. Annually, approximately 2,000 adult men and women receive substance usage disorder treatment for drug and/or alcohol addiction. KRC serves primarily low-income and Medicaid-eligible clients. It also accepts clients with private insurance and provides information, education and referrals to all county residents.

KRC has an exciting opportunity in our Outpatient Program for a
Substance Use Disorder Professional or Trainee (SUDP/T).


This is specialized work in the field of substance usage disorder treatment services. The incumbent is responsible for providing individual, group and family counseling for persons dealing with alcohol and drug related problems, conducting educational classes and lectures to participants, assisting with the administration of the UA testing process, conducting intake assessments and maintaining required paperwork per program policies and procedures and Washington Administrative Code requirements, as well as maintaining records and documents in support of programs and services administered by the Kitsap Recovery Center, maintaining professional standards, including adhering to Kitsap Recovery Center Ethical Standards, following the treatment policies and procedures of the Kitsap Recovery Center, and complying with Federal, State and local regulations.

If hired as a trainee, this position will be a training position in accordance with the standards of Washington Administrative Code 246.811. While in the training program under the direct supervision of a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP), the incumbent is required to spend a significant period of time in consultation with the trainer. Upon successful completion of the training program, and registration as a SUDP in the State of Washington, and upon the recommendation of the Clinical Manager, the incumbent may be promoted to SUDP without additional selection procedures.

Work as a SUDP/T is performed under close supervision, and the employee will have limited independence and latitude to apply judgment and initiative. These limitations will be required until the incumbent demonstrates the ability to understand and apply judgment within the guidelines of accepted substance usage disorder counseling practices and the policies and procedures of the Kitsap Recovery Center. Work is inspected and reviewed frequently, and assignments are made to assure the proscribed training program is completed successfully.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERFORMANCE OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Required Education and Experience

Note: Education requirements must be supported by transcripts provided prior to appointment and may be met by: An associate's degree in human services or related field; or successful completion of ninety (90) quarter or sixty (60) semester college credits from an approved school. Coursework must include at least forty-five (45) quarter or thirty (30) semester credits relating to the chemical dependency profession and shall include the topics specific to alcohol and drug addicted individuals as listed in Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 246.811.030.2. All applicants, regardless of other degrees or licenses, must have completed the coursework listed.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of the effects of alcohol and drug addiction, and the ability to evaluate, assess, diagnose, and treat those with addictions. Must have skills and knowledge in group and individual counseling techniques, case management, trauma informed care, de-escalation, HIPAA, and confidentiality requirements under state and federal law.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate resilience and compassion for serving the unhoused population and vulnerable populations.

11 paid holidays and 2 additional floating holiday per year. One additional floating holiday after 10 years of service.

Vacation Leave
New employees are credited with 48 hours of annual leave upon hire and will be begin accruing at the rate of 8 hours per month starting on their 7th month of employment. Employees may carry over 360 hours from one calendar year to the next. Annual leave accrual will increase upon tenure, as follows:

Upon completion of 2 years: 15 days per year (10.00 hours per month)
Upon completion of 5 years: 20 days per year (13.33 hours per month)
Upon completion of 10 years: 25 days per year (16.67 hours per month)

Sick Leave
All new hires will be credited with 48 hours of sick leave upon hire and will begin accruing at the rate of 8 hours per month starting on their 7th month of employment. Employees may carry over 1200 hours from one calendar year to the next.
