Purpose:

Under general direction, this position supervises personnel engaged in implementing the environmental health programs by conducting inspections, investigations, and public education in the enforcement of public health protection laws, codes, ordinances and regulations. Coordinates environmental health program activities and may conduct inspections in specialty areas. Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and systems.

Position Overview:

The Supervisor of Environmental Health Officers for the Environmental Health Services Division. This includes providi8ng leadership, conducting SSPR evaluations, interviewing candidates for new EHO positions, and overseeing the discipline and training of field inspectors. This position specifically administers daily operations of the Travis County/ILA Program which includes regulating and providing evaluation of consumer health food programs, mobile food establishments, temporary food establishments, flea markets, mass gathering and outdoor music festivals, pools and spas, and conducting public nuisance complaint investigations and public nuisance abatement for such matters as high grass and weeds, improper disposal of waste, junk and abandoned vehicles on private property, exposed wastewater/sewage, and sub-standard housing. Furthermore, this supervisor must provide timely reporting of program performance measures, drafting of policies and standard operating procedures and review and approval of all inspections, and compliance actions for violation of City, County and State Health and Safety Codes.

Min $29.23 - Mid $36.54
