The City of Fort Worth's Animal Care and Control Division operates across three core areas: Shelter Operations, Field Services, and Outbound Services. We are seeking a highly qualified leader with well-rounded experience in shelter operations, animal control field services, adoptions, and animal behavior, supported by strong skills in customer service and community engagement. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with the ability to build trust, foster collaboration, and advance our mission of protecting both people and animals while ensuring positive outcomes for the community.

Fort Worth Animal Care & Control has built a reputation as one of the most progressive animal welfare programs in the region, supported by elected officials, residents, and community partners. The division continues to expand lifesaving programs such as large-scale adoption events, robust foster and rescue partnerships, transport initiatives that place pets with out-of-state partners, the Community Intake Program, and innovative community engagement efforts like P.A.W.S. for Patriots, volunteer recruitment, and public education programs. These initiatives reflect the City's commitment to strengthening public safety, improving animal welfare, and fostering a community where residents and animals thrive together.

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.

Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
