DefinitionCome join our team as a full-time Buyer! Check out this video to see what it is like working for the City of Newport Beach. Currently, there is one full-time vacancy in the Finance Department at City Hall. This position is responsible for purchasing supplies, services, and equipment; reviewing and processing requisitions; preparing and obtaining quotations; and issuing purchase orders. Additional duties include participating in the annual physical inventory of the warehouse (including auto parts inventory), as well as monitoring inventory levels of gasoline, diesel fuel, and motor oil essential to the daily operations of the City's fleet. The role also involves planning and prioritizing tasks related to receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, materials, tools, and parts; ensuring proper accounting and recordkeeping; and participating in receiving and issuing activities as needed. The position will coordinate and administer formal bids and requests for proposals in support of the City's fleet and warehouse operations. Furthermore, the employee will lead and participate in the daily operations of the automotive parts section within the City's fleet maintenance division; order and issue new vehicles and equipment as outlined in the City's vehicle replacement program; and coordinate DMV procedures, forms, and regulations for the City's automotive fleet and rolling stock.

Experience & Education and License/CertificateA combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience : Three years of purchasing and warehouse operation experience.
Education : Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level courses in business administration or a related field.
License/Certificate : Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.

$5,816.67 - $8,588.30 Monthly
