The County of Monterey is hiring for one vacancy and invites applications for the position of Senior Secretary.

County Administrative Office
The County Administrative Office (CAO) oversees the preparation, adoption, and administration of the County’s $2.3 billion budget and coordinates the activities of county departments to ensure the effective accomplishment of the Board’s directives and policies. The Administrative Office includes the divisions of Budget and Analysis, Contracts and Purchasing, Finance and Intergovernmental and Legislative Affairs.

The Department is seeking a highly motivated Senior Secretary to provide administrative support within its organization to the following area:

Intergovernmental & Legislative Affairs Division

One (1) full-time permanent Senior Secretary to provide professional support to the CAO Intergovernmental & Legislative Affairs Division which may include Homelessness Services and Community Engagement and/or other programs as assigned. The Senior Secretary will work under general supervision and play a crucial role in providing day-to-day secretarial and administrative support to multiple Program Managers and perform other duties as required. The position will also include clerking responsibilities for various Committee meetings.
Flexible Staffing
This classification is part of a flexible series. Incumbents appointed at the lower level of the career series may be promoted up to the higher level of the career series subject to their meeting the employment standards for the higher class and a recommendation for their promotion by the appointing authority.

The Eligible List established by this recruitment process may be used County-wide to fill current and future vacancies on a regular full-time, part-time, or temporary basis.

Any combination of training, education and/or experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities and required conditions of employment listed above is qualifying. An example of a way these requirements might be acquired is:

Experience
EITHER
Four years of progressively responsible clerical/secretarial experience equivalent to the levels of Typist Clerk II and Senior Typist Clerk in Monterey County
OR
One year of journey level secretarial experience equivalent to the class of Secretary in Monterey County.
