DESCRIPTION

THE AGENCY

The mission of the Registrar of Voters (ROV) is to encourage all eligible residents to exercise their right to vote, conduct elections in a fair, accurate, and efficient manner that inspires public confidence in the County elections process, maintain a continuous professional level of service to the public, and develop new techniques to improve outreach services that acknowledge the diversity of Alameda County.

All services provided by the ROV are mandated by the California Elections Code, the California Government Code, and the California Constitution. These mandated services include voter registration, voter outreach, candidate services, elections services, and vote by mail. THE POSITION

Under general direction, plans, organizes and directs election/voter services clerical and technical support staff and the systems and programs for one of the major functional units in the Registrar of Voters. Provides training and supervision for staff and performs other work as required.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications states below, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated a track record of success in the following areas:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EITHER I
Experience:


The equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in the class of Elections Technician in the Alameda County classified service.


OR II
Experience:

The equivalent of two (2) years of full-time paid experience in an Election’s Department within the State of California which included the equivalent of one (1) year’s full-time experience supervising elections’ activities.

NOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

The most suitably qualified candidates will possess the following competencies:

EXAMINATION COMPONENTS

THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING STEPS:
A review of the applicants’ application to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process. An oral examination which will be weighted as 100% of the candidate’s final examination score. The oral examination may contain situational exercises.
