Description

The Missouri Department of Mental Health is seeking to fill a vacancy for Legal Assistant/Paralegal position. The office for this position is located in St. Louis.

The base salary offered for this position ranges from $45,00.00 to $56,00.00 annually, commensurate with education and experience. If the selected candidate is eligible for a pay differential, such as retention pay, the total salary may exceed what is listed above.

This position will provide general assistance and support to the Assistant General Counsels and Forensic Case Monitors in the Eastern Region. Duties will include assisting in: preparing petitions, orders, cover letters, notices, forensic case documentation, and revocation paperwork in forensic matters; preparing petitions, supporting exhibits, orders, and notices in guardianship matters; gathering and copying necessary records; developing and maintaining databases to track cases; serving as a liaison with the courts, clients, witnesses and Assistant General Counsels; and generally working with Assistant General Counsels on forensic, probate, and other matters as assigned.

Qualifications include: (1) Associate degree or 2-4 years of experience in a legal environment (Substitutions may be allowed).

The successful candidate should have strong organizational and written communication skills; substantial knowledge of database management tools such as Microsoft Office, Excel and Adobe Acrobat; and general knowledge of the workings of local, state and federal legal systems, including E-filing (Casenet and Pacer). Familiarity with administrative and mental health care law preferred.

$45,000.00-$56,000.00 per Year
