Position DescriptionThe Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Department of Pediatrics is seeking a General Pediatrician to work in a clinically diverse program, serving a large region of West Texas known as the Texas Panhandle. The candidate should have exemplary clinical skills, a team spirit, collegiality and an interest in training pediatric residents and medical students.
Major/Essential Functions- Provide comprehensive outpatient general pediatric care, including preventive, acute, and chronic disease management.
- Deliver inpatient pediatric care, including well-baby nursery, pediatric ward, and consultative services as assigned.
- Participate in call coverage to ensure continuity of pediatric services for the community and region.
- Supervise and teach pediatric residents and medical students in both inpatient and outpatient settings, fostering professional development and clinical skills.
- Engage in scholarly activities such as quality improvement projects, clinical research, or academic presentations.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including nursing staff, subspecialists, and hospital partners, to provide coordinated patient care.
- Contribute to departmental and institutional service through committees, faculty meetings, and academic initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with TTUHSC policies, accreditation standards, and professional practice guidelines.
- Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain board certification/eligibility in General Pediatrics.
Occasional Duties
Participate in community outreach, health fairs, and public education events to advance pediatric health in the Texas Panhandle.Deliverguest lectures or contribute to continuing medical education (CME) activities for regional healthcare professionals.Assistin departmental or institutional research initiatives beyond primary scholarly activities.Serve as advisor or mentor for student interest groups, resident projects, or junior faculty development.Contribute to curriculum development or review processes within the School of Medicine.Represent the department at regional or national professional meetings, conferences, or collaborative initiatives.Provide input in the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new faculty, residents, or staff as assigned.
Required Qualifications- MD/DO/MBBS
- Completion of, or in the process of completing, a Pediatric Residency
- Board Certified, Board Eligible, or in the process of completing residency to become Board Eligible in Pediatrics
