San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office seeks an experienced Law and Justice Research Analyst to coordinate and perform critical data analysis to inform decision-making that will help improve criminal justice programs within the department and guide the development, integration, and implementation of long and short-range plans to support operations. This position will plan and conduct surveys and analytical studies of administrative and operational activities; develop recommendations for appropriate actions based on analysis of gathered data; and present reports of findings.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-employment: Prior to appointment, candidates will be fingerprinted and must successfully pass a full background investigation.

Location: Must be willing to work in the office, Monday through Friday. A flex schedule (9/80) may be available.

Travel:
Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.

Minimum Requirements

Option 1
Experience : One year of experience performing analytical duties as a primary job function in any of the following areas: organizational operations and programs, data/statistical analysis and reporting, quantitative and qualitative analysis, fiscal analysis, contracts/grants administration or management.

Education : Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, political science, behavioral/social science, data analytics, accounting/finance, public/business administration or other relevant field of study.*

Option 2
Experience : Two years of experience performing analytical duties as a primary job function in any of the following areas: organizational operations and programs, data/statistical analysis and reporting, quantitative and qualitative analysis, fiscal analysis, contracts/grants administration or management.

Education : Associate's degree in criminal justice, political science, behavioral/social science, data analytics, accounting/finance, public/business administration or other relevant field of study.*

Option 3
Experience : Three years of experience performing analytical duties as a primary job function in any of the following areas: organizational operations and programs, data/statistical analysis and reporting, quantitative and qualitative analysis, fiscal analysis, contracts/grants administration or management.

Education : Thirty semester (45 quarter) units in criminal justice, political science, behavioral/social science, data analytics, accounting/finance, public/business administration or other relevant field of study. (Copies of transcripts or list of completed college coursework is required.) *
Substitution : An additional year of qualifying experience may substitute for the required education under Option 3 only.

*Note: Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the criminal justice system, with the ability to extract, analyze, and interpret statistical data and queries. In addition, the candidate should possess the following qualifications:
