Job Description:

Purpose:

Under limited supervision and using comprehensive knowledge, review, inspect, analyze, and/or investigate development, construction, businesses, remediation plans, and pollution events to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Responsible for projects and programs that are diverse in scope and complexity.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

May require a valid State of Texas Class C Driver License and the ability to meet driver eligibility standards detailed in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program.

POSITION OVERVIEW :
This position reports to the Pond Inspection and Dam Safety section supervisor, which is responsible for inspecting and monitoring Stormwater Control Measures (SCMs) for regulatory compliance. Working under minimal supervision, the role focuses on post-construction field inspections of both privately and publicly maintained critical infrastructure. The position may initiate enforcement actions for non-compliance and serve as an expert witness in legal proceedings when necessary. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with applicable regulations, coordinate inspection activities, and provide subject matter expertise on SCM functionality and environmental criteria.

EDUCATION :
Verification of education will be conducted on the top candidate.

The candidate selected to interview is subject to pre-employment screening assessments to evaluate skill levels and competencies required for this position.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS :
This position requires a valid State of Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
