Position Description
Draws blood from patients in correctional hospital facility for analysis or other medical purposes.

Major/Essential Functions

Perform blood draws and specimen collection using proper aseptic and safety techniques.
Monitor and maintain specimen containers, ensuring all supplies are current and within expiration dates.
Identify and promptly report any abnormal results, discrepancies, or processing errors to the charge nurse.
Verify that all laboratory equipment is functioning correctly and maintain temperature and quality control logs.
Use the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system accurately to support continuity and quality of patient care.
Participate actively in Quality Assurance (QA) monitoring for laboratory equipment and processes.
Order, track, and maintain adequate laboratory supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Follow established procedures for the collection, labeling, and preparation of all specimens.
Collaborate effectively with the Managed Care team to meet overall unit goals and patient care objectives.
Respond promptly to all work requests and communications.
Support departmental goals by attending team meetings and contributing to performance improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
