Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of operations in a correctional facility medical clinic. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for preparing necessary paperwork before patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position may be responsible for coordinating other clinic services, responding to requests for patient information, and maintaining related information for the department. Employees in this classification receive general supervision. Most work is performed according to established procedures; problems of an unusual nature are referred to a supervisor. Work is performed in a medical clinic setting in a correctional facility and may require a high degree of contact with patients, facility staff, and other partners.
Major/Essential Functions- Assists with MD clinic by completing vital signs, obtaining offender history and other assistance as needed
- Is active in the daily clinics. Duties include, but are not limited to: register/discharge offenders, update/create/delete reminders as appropriate, completes passes for offenders as ordered by provider. Responsible for scheduling appointments for offenders for clinics.
- Receives and reviews all medical records for completeness following clinic appointments
- Completes monthly CQI reports for nursing access to care.
- Schedules X-ray clinic. Gathers and completes lay-ins and all appropriate information for X-ray tech. Files all x-ray reports
- Handles incoming telephone calls.
- Assists medical records department with duties as deemed necessary, to include scanning.
Required QualificationsOne (1) year customer service, office, or related experience required. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
