Codes Compliance Specialist.The Town of Prescott Valley is seeking the next Codes Compliance Specialist to ensure adopted codes and ordinances of the Town are upheld and enhance the image of Prescott Valley with equitable enforcement of health and safety codes. Examples of DutiesIN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL: - Provide customer service to internal and external customers; greet, receive and screen visitors and customers on the phone and in person; address, and resolve customer questions as able and refer complex inquiries, requests or complaints to appropriate staff.
- Receive, record, and investigate complaints regarding potential violations of municipal codes, ordinances, standards, health and safety regulations, and water quality regulations; document violations by securing photographs, writing reports, and recording other pertinent data; research ownership records, prior complaints, municipal codes and ordinances, and state regulations to establish whether a violation has occurred.
- Initiate contact with residents, business representatives and other parties to explain the nature of incurred violation and establish compliance requirements with municipal codes, ordinances, and community standards.
- Meet with Town staff regarding complaints; coordinate follow-up activities as needed.
- Coordinate and conduct follow-up abatement procedures including the preparation of additional correspondence, site visits, and communication with property owners if applicable.
- Prepare non-compliance case information for legal action when requested. Testify in court or administrative hearings as needed.
- Prepare notices of violation or noncompliance and citations according to applicable codes and regulations; issue letters to property owners notifying them of violation; as appropriate, affix notices of violation on property to abate fire and public safety hazards and public nuisances.
Typical QualificationREQUIREMENTS: - High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years' work experience in code enforcement or related land use experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities for the job.
- Completion of the Arizona Code Enforcement Association (ACEA), ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector, ICC Zoning Inspector and AACE Certified Code Enforcement Officer within one year of hire.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Flexible schedule to include possible weekends.
COMPENSATION: - The Town's complete compensation package includes salary, benefits, and a high-performance culture. The Town package includes a health, dental, and vision insurance plan, participation in the state retirement system, optional 457 deferred compensation with a town match up to 6%, vacation, holidays, and additional comprehensive benefits.
- The expected hiring range is $27.91-$29.31.
- The full hourly range is $27.91-$39.07.
