We’re looking for a strategic, community-focused planner to join our Transportation Planning Division. As a Transportation Planner III, you’ll play a key role in working with the community to advance the City’s goals for safe, complete streets and equitable mobility.

You’ll lead the update of our Vision Zero Plan, coordinate with neighborhood groups on sidewalk improvements, and work directly with residents to identify and solve transportation challenges. This role also supports grant development and may oversee Planner II staff.

This job classification is included within the bargaining unit represented by Federation of Public Employees and therefore is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Federation of Public Employees.

This job classification is in Management Category III for benefits purposes, which includes Six (6) additional Management Vacation days per calendar year and a monthly vehicle allowance of $250.00.

JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's Degree in urban and regional planning, geography, architecture, public or business administration or a closely related fieldAmerican Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification Previous experience working for or with government agenciesPrior lead work and/or supervisory experience preferred.

As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The position is generally sedentary. Employees sit most of the time, but may walk or stand.
