Resident Engineer - Construction and Materials (District Office)
Description
Note for internal applicants: Successful candidates already at rates above the posted salary will be evaluated on an individual basis to determine final salary outcome. Job Location: Central District, 1511 Missouri Blvd., Jefferson City, MO.
Why you’ll love this position: The resident engineer supervises contract administration and engineering personnel at a field office covering an area within a district and ensures surveying, inspection, documentation, and contract administration of construction projects complies with specifications, special provisions and standard plans. Responsibilities are performed under general supervision.
- Perform district project and job site reviews as well as inspections prior to project acceptance.
- Review plans for constructability.
- Oversee the daily operations of the district materials section.
- Checks district project materials summaries, supervises materials personnel including making hiring and other employment related decisions, assigning work, disciplining employees, and conducting performance management.
- Supervises and coordinates quality control procedures to ensure materials comply with specifications.
- Liaisons with producers, contractors and suppliers to clarify materials specifications or inspection procedures; select consultants.
- Supervises and coordinates inspection contracts.
- Assist the project offices with the administration of job order contracts.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
- Six years of experience in highway or transportation engineering.
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification required within 90 days.
Special Working Conditions: - Job requires exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions.
- This title requires advanced accreditation or licensure which is only available to holders of specific postsecondary degrees.
