Job Announcement

The City of Chandler Community Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Librarian at the Sunset Library. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with one evening shift per week and one weekend shift per month.

Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

Who we are looking for

Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are seeking an individual to coordinate and oversee assigned library services and programs, ensuring high-quality service to library patrons. This position will serve as the Youth Services Librarian and will supervise a team of Library Specialist programmers.

Minimum qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science or related field; and

• 3 years of paraprofessional library experience, including one (1) year of previous supervisory experience; and

• Arizona State Teaching Certification and Arizona State School Library Endorsement required, depending on assignment; and

• A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; or

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science

• Experience working in early literacy, children's programming, and/or teen programming within a public library setting

This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months, should another position become available.

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.
