Position Description
Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In the clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from a physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In the office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from the department administrator. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions, and may be stressful when working under emergency conditions.

Major/Essential Functions

• Ability to use basic equipment, such as thermometers, blood pressure cuffs, scales, and stethoscopes.
• Knowledge and ability to perform CPR
• Give injections, ability to follow directions and observe pertinent details
• Communicate effectively.
• Requires the ability to reason with patients and help them understand and follow provider directions, clinic protocol and schedule appointments.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants in the area of required specialty.
• Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty in which the particular work will be performed.
