Job Description

Location : OKC - 123 Robert S Kerr

Salary : up to $110,000.00, based on education and experience

Full Time /Part Time : Full Time

Work Schedule : Monday - Friday

Primary Hours : 8-5

Position Description:

The Attorney is responsible for conducting legal research and provide legal representation and advice to clients in government-related areas of expertise (e.g., oil and gas, public utility, and transportation, regulatory compliance, rulemaking, employment/labor, ethics, health and human services, or other areas of law as may be applicable). This position will be expected to work under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment in legal issues large in scope, complexity, and activity.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience requirements at this level consists of a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, a license to practice law in State of Oklahoma, membership in Oklahoma Bar Association, and five or more years of legal experience

An applicant may substitute up to two years of health law experience, litigation experience, and large entity in-house experience to meet the required experience. Additionally, experience may be substituted by demonstrating the following:


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in administrative law, litigation, and/or other areas of law involved in the operations of a government agency preferred.

Knowledge of the Oklahoma Central Purchasing Act and experience with negotiating state and federal contract provisions is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of legal principles and their application; of legal research and writing methods, of the scope of Oklahoma statutory laws and provisions of the Oklahoma Constitution, of the United States Constitution, of the law and regulations on statewide purchasing and contracts; of the principles of administrative law. applicable state and federal laws; applicable regulations; constitutional law and the Oklahoma constitution; agency policies and procedures; trial and hearing procedures; rules of evidence; methods and techniques for conducting legal research and writing.

Skills required include critical thinking; conducting legal research; written and oral communication; Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; attention to detail; sound judgment and decision making.

Abilities required include presenting statements of fact and law; clearly and logically articulate position in written and oral form; analyze, interpret, and apply various laws, rules, regulations, agency policies, and procedures; direct and/or perform independent and difficult research, analyzing, appraising, and applying legal principles and precedents to difficult legal or factual problems; conduct legal research; meet timelines while following the Oklahoma statutes, and represent the agency in a professional manner.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Work is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise levels. While performing the duties of the job, employees are required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. His position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computers and phones. Employees must be willing to complete all job-related travel associated with this position. Being present at the office is an essential function of the job.
