*Subject to change* DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Perform emergency management work including coordination with other entities, the prevention, preparedness, response, recovery and/or mitigation of intentional and unintentional crisis, disasters, other humanitarian emergencies, or of all-hazards, natural and man-made/technological (chemical, biological,
radiological, nuclear, high explosives) events. - This position develops emergency preparedness and disaster response planning, organizing, equipping, training and exercise activities as a convenor and facilitator.
- Performs as the Response & COOP Planning Coordinator.
- As the Response Planning Coordinator facilitates the development, review, and revision of HHD Response Plans in conjunction with PHEP team members and other stakeholders.
- As the HHD COOP Planning Coordinator, an essential function is to facilitate the review and revision of the HHD COOP. Participates on city, regional, state and national emergency preparedness workgroups.
- Coordinates, convenes and facilitates workgroups to produce plan documents, SOPs, trainings, and exercises.
- Develops relationships with key stakeholders and initiates memoranda of understanding, contracts, scopes of work, and other agreements as may be needed for emergency response and recovery capacity and capability.
- Completes special projects as assigned, working on a wide variety of financial, administrative, professional, management and community issues and problems of simple to medium complexity including emergency response, recovery, and COOP activations.
- Compiles data, produces information and interprets results through to conclusion or recommendation formulation.
- Develops reports, special documents or publications as assigned.
- Maintains a high degree of working knowledge of CDC’s Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Capabilities, CDC’s Emergency Readiness Framework, HHS’s Public Health Emergency Medical Countermeasures Enterprise, NACCHO’s Project Public Health Ready, FEMA’s National Incident Management System, Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program, and other national and state level guidance documents and programs.
- Coordinates and delivers community preparedness outreach and training activities including weekend and after-hours events.
- Actively contributes to the program’s documentation and quality improvement initiatives including, but not limited to, Public Health Accreditation Board and the DLMCC.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions may be varied, and can include working outdoors in extreme weather conditions, in structures that lack climate control, or in an office environment. The office may have occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions. The position may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations, as with occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or extensive use of a video display terminal.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor’s degree related to in emergency management, emergency response, public safety, public health, criminal justice, or public administration.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three years of experience in emergency management, emergency response, public safety, public health, criminal justice, or public administration.
Experience in emergency management, emergency response, public safety, public health, criminal justice, or public administration may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-to year basis.
