Are you ready to lead the operations that keep our community running? Albemarle County seeks a
Chief of Facilities & Operations to oversee public facilities, grounds, and essential services. This role ensures safe, efficient, and sustainable use of County properties while managing critical programs like solid waste and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:- Direct operations for facilities and grounds maintenance.
- Manage budgets for operational and capital projects.
- Promote energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
- Manage property use agreements and leases for County-owned facilities.
- Administer solid waste, recycling, and other community service programs.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Lead a team with a focus on development and performance excellence.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years in facilities management; 5+ years in leadership.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License.
- Strong knowledge of construction, maintenance, and regulatory standards.

The Salary Range: The hiring range for this position is $115,529 - $127,689 per year. Starting offer is based on applicable education beyond minimum requirements and internal equity. The position also provides excellent benefits including 12 paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance options with employer contribution, employer-paid life insurance, VRS retirement, and continuing education/training opportunities. This is a full time, FLSA exempt position. Internal candidates will receive pay adjustments in accordance with Local Government Personnel Policy, §P-60.

What to Expect During the Screening/Interview Process: Applicants must be prepared to participate in a one-way video interview through Spark Hire followed by an in-person interview and presentation. The in-person assessment will take place the week of 3/23-3/27.
