The Town of Davie has transitioned to a four (4) day work week schedule (10 hours per day). Hours of work are Monday through Thursday either 7:00am-5:30pm or 7:30am-6:00pm. Under supervision of the Housing & Community Affairs Manager or designee, the Neighborhood Resource Specialist performs a wide variety of complex, professional work in such fields as community services, housing, and community development funding, specifically but not limited to Community Development Block Grant and State Housing Initiatives Partnership funding. Employee assists in the collection of data and information, client intake, planning, neighborhood activities, and events.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Assist in the coordination and implementation of grant-funded and self-sufficiency programs.
- Conducts client intake, maintain client files, prepares records, correspondence and reports, and maintain accurate referral data and records.
- Assists residents in completing grant assistance applications for the appropriate program and explains the programs and its requirements to determine eligibility.
- Provide information to residents on how to access the services provided by other agencies including local, county, state, federal and non-profit groups.
- Prepares, establishes, and serves as the custodian of paper and electronic records pertinent to housing programs, not limited to correspondence, reports, and technical materials.
- Keeps appointment calendar and schedules intake appointments for grant recipients.
- Prepares award/denial letters.
- Monitors grant budgets to meet grant guidelines and set-asides.
- Prepares contract and closing documents, satisfactions of mortgage and payoff requests.
- Assists in the preparation of purchase orders and review/processing payments.
- Prepares and distributes approved applications and verification requests to the appropriate agencies.
- Processes documents for recording and return of recorded documents.
- Reviews invoices from vendors/contractors for accuracy before submittal for payment.
- Perform site visits and meet applicants off site.
- Promote and educate the residents on the various programs provided by the Housing & Community Affairs.
- Answers and manages incoming calls from the public, providing accurate program information and directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel as needed.
- Related work as required by the Housing & Community Affairs Manager and/or Designee.
Minimum Requirements (Must meet by the closing date of the posting unless otherwise stated)EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Associates Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two (2) years of responsible experience in clerical work;
- Intermediate to expert level operation of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Additional qualifying experience beyond the two (2) years may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
Preferred - Two (2) years of experience developing and administering community-based or grant-funded programs.
