SummaryIn addition to the current opening, this recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future Customer Service Specialist vacancies within the Parks Division over the next six months. King County Parks is excited to seek a temporary Customer Services Specialist to join the Parks Division Director’s Office team! This position will be responsible for providing primary external-facing customer service support on behalf of the division. This includes providing a high level of customer service in response to public and stakeholder inquiries, coordinating with various subject matter experts in the division, and managing customer-service technology and tracking tools. We are looking for someone who is passionate about customer service, organized, and has good communication and interpersonal skills.
About the Role: This role serves as a central connection point between the community and the Parks team, managing and coordinating inquiries across multiple channels to ensure timely, accurate and equitable responses. By triaging requests, collaborating with subject matter experts, maintaining confidential information, and supporting efficient service workflows, the position helps build trust and access by centering community needs, fairness, and accountability in every interaction, process, and decision. This position follows a hybrid work model, blending remote and in-person work.

Job Duties What You Will Be Doing: - Process and manage external and internal customer inquiries from variety of sources including email, telephone, web portals.
- Proactively apply and Equity and Social Justice lens to all actions, processes and decisions.
- Triage inquires to division subject matter experts and log and track responses to inquiries.
- Answer, manage and process the Parks Info telephone line and voice mail box; directly responding to calls and voicemails and coordinating responses as needed.
- Maintain security and confidentiality of highly sensitive communications and information in all forms (written, verbal and electronic), and all related information and documents including files and records.
- Research and update resources for reference materials.
- Establish and maintain working relationships internally and externally to provide a high level of service for customer responses.
- Develop workflows, document customer service processes, and identify opportunities for process improvements. Communicate change management processes where needed to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills Qualifications You Bring: - At least two years of experience providing customer service, administrative, technical, and support functions in a professional work setting.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with a diverse range of staff and customers in a pleasant, non-judgmental, respectful, and culturally sensitive manner under varying levels of stress.
- Ability to handle difficult interpersonal interactions with discretion, diplomacy, etiquette, and professionalism.
- Demonstrated experience managing customer inquiries from a variety of sources including email and phone lines, web portals.
- Excellent organizational skills including the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and to complete projects within deadlines
- Strong attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and effective problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite.

Supplemental InformationWorking Conditions:- Work Location: The Parks & Recreation Division Director’s Office works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is King Street Center, 201 S. Jackson, Seattle, Washington 98104. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
- Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
- Union Representation: This position is not represented by a union.
- Duration: This recruitment aims to fill a Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position with an anticipated duration of 9 months. If the position is filled by a King County employee who has successfully completed their initial probation, they will be offered the role as a Special Duty Assignment.
