The Office of the Assessor - County Clerk - Recorder and Chief Elections Officer is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of GIS Analyst II/III to work in the Appraisal Services division of the Office.

The GIS Analyst II/III will be responsible for:

GIS Analyst II is the journey level class in this series and incumbents at this level are expected to perform skilled GIS and research work in the preparation, maintenance, and amendment of a variety of maps and/or engineering drawings. The GIS Analyst II applies fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures to complete assignments. Assignments at this level are subject to technical review and are of varying difficulty but incumbents are expected to demonstrate some level of independence in completing assignments and in interpreting moderately complex issues. The annual salary range is: $108,784.00-$136,094.40.

GIS Analyst III is the advanced level in the series performing more complex GIS assignments requiring more analysis and problem solving or the lead level in the series, providing lead direction over a team of technical, professional, and/or clerical staff while performing specialized, highly skilled GIS work. Incumbents have the highest level of expertise in geospatial analysis, application development, designing and administering spatial databases, and can resolve the most complex GIS problems. The GIS Analyst III position will also work closely with the Information Services Department. The GIS Analyst III is further distinguished from the GIS Manager for the latter's ongoing first line manager responsibilities. The annual salary range is: $126,921.60-$158,662.40

Education and Experience:
Any combination of theoretical and hands-on experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying such as:
At least two years of relevant experience is required at the II level, and three or more years of relevant experience is needed to qualify for the III level.

Open & Promotional. Anyone may apply. Current County of San Mateo and County of San Mateo Superior Court of California employees with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a classified regular, probationary, extra-help/limited term positions prior to the final filing date will receive five points added to their final passing score on this examination.

The examination process will consist of an application screening (weight: Pass/Fail) based on the candidates' application and responses to the supplemental questions. Candidates who pass the application screening will be invited to a panel interview (weight: 100%) which may include a pre-interview exercise . Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations or further evaluation of work experience may be conducted to group applicants by level of qualification . All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. All examinations will be given in San Mateo County, California and applicants must participate at their own expense.
