ABOUT THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE:
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is a full service agency that oversees the adult jail, provides patrol, criminal investigations, civil process and search and rescue operations. Special units include SWAT, Marine Patrol, ATV Patrol, Forest Patrol, along with five K9 teams. Founded in 1916 and today led by Sheriff Ty Rupert, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office serves over 200,000 residents in Deschutes County.

ABOUT THE JOB:
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for On-Call Seasonal Deputies.

Seasonal Deputies are responsible for enforcing State Marine and OHV/Traffic laws, promoting Boating and OHV safety education, and safety on the waterways and trail systems within Deschutes County. Duties include but are not limited to: patrolling lakes and trail systems within Deschutes County, conducting OSMB boat inspections and OHV safety examinations, issuing warning or citations for traffic and recreation violations, conducting investigations for under the influence of intoxicants and vehicle crashes, and answering marine and OHV related complaints and questions. May utilize snowmobiles to patrol and assist civilians. Performs other duties as required. Applicants are required to pass the Oregon State Marine Board (OSMB) academy.

Compensation

$36.6956 to $49.1532 per hour. There are no County benefits with these positions.

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon presentation of an acceptable and verifiable driver's license, pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.

A successful candidate will complete a full background investigation prior to receiving a conditional job offer. The psychological and medical evaluations will require completion after the conditional job offer.

Must pass a driving record review and criminal history background. Background Investigation. Physical Requirements :
Must possess the physical ability to perform all aspects of the job.
