The LA County Board of Supervisors recently declared a local state of emergency for homelessness , and the County is working to revise and expand our response to help all who are affected. We are looking for qualified and passionate individuals to help us in the mission of addressing issues like housing, mental health, and substance use. The Department of Homeless Services and Housing is seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Deputy Director, Housing for Health Programs, HS vacancies related to the homelessness crisis.

Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment.

During your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.

Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Deputy Director, Housing for Health Programs, HS.

Minimum Requirements

OPTION I: Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a staff capacity* analyzing, evaluating, coordinating, and making recommendations for a variety of healthcare programs for a large integrated healthcare delivery system, one (1) year of which must have included supervisory experience** at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Senior Staff Analyst, Health***, Assistant Hospital Administrator IV****, or higher.

OPTION II: Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a staff capacity* analyzing, evaluating, coordinating, and making recommendations for a variety of human services programs for a social services provider, one (1) year of which must have included supervisory experience** at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Senior Staff Analyst, Health***, or higher.

Special Requirement Information

*Staff capacity experience is defined as assisting management by performing research and making recommendations on the use of personnel, allocation of funds, workload and workload fluctuations, and programs and procedures for accomplishing departmental objectives.

**Supervisory experience is defined as providing direct supervision to planning, assigning, and reviewing the work of the staff of the unit, evaluating employee performance, counseling, and recommending discipline.

***Experience at the level of a Senior Staff Analyst, Health is defined as supervising a team of analysts providing technical and consultative service to management in major health service areas.

****Experience at the level of a Assistant Hospital Administrator IV is defined as assisting in the administration of a large County hospital, by managing and coordinating the supporting services for patient care programs of a major area of the hospital.

License

A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Physical Class
II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
