Description

Overview

The Utility Technician III are responsible for the maintenance and operation of the six (6) Wastewater Treatment Plants and the City's lift stations. These positions are also responsible for the maintenance and operation of the wastewater collection lines,

Responsibilities

• Identifies and resolves operating issues at the facility

• Prioritizes and coordinates staffing needs for the facility

• In absence of manager, will act as a subject matter expert

• Oversees the analysis and monitoring of the potable wastewater treatment system processes

• Oversees the operation and maintenance of process equipment at assigned facility

• Conducts regular tours of facility

• Understands wastewater processes and records management, regulates and adjusts processes to meet changing operational needs

• Oversees the collection, preservation, and storage of samples for laboratory analysis

• Participates and implements various program initiatives

• Participates in budget development

• Reviews job performance of staff

• Leads and participates in troubleshooting and preventative maintenance

• Performs advanced level process control measurements and testing

• Act as "shift" lead

• Determines coagulant based on jar test results

• Ensures compliance with TCEQ regulation

• Reviews and enters data used for completing the SWMOR, DMR, and MER

• Orders chemicals

• Sets, corrects/ adjusts chemical dosages

• Produces reports

• Make process control decisions

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

• Non - Exempt - Full-Time

• R otating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed

• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/ GED

• Three (3) years of experience

Licenses and Certifications

Required

• TCEQ Class C Wastewater Operator

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
