Position DescriptionWe are looking for a physician to diagnose and treat a wide range of internal medicine conditions with the potential to specialize in a subspecialty area such as cardiology, critical care, endocrinology; gastroenterology, infectious disease, oncology or nephrology.
Rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon candidate's qualifications and experience.
Major/Essential Functions- Provides medical care by interviewing, examining, and treating patients;
- Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families;
- Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments;
- Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients;
- Orders studies, test and ancillary services;
- Documents all services in patient medical record;
- Consults with other departments and medical staff professionals as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues;
- Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic requirements;
- Contributes to the university's mission through teaching, patient care, research and service;
- Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures;
- Teaches internal medicine residents, outside rotators, NP's, PA's and medical students through lectures and in clinics/hospitals.
- Giving lectures and teaching sessions to fellows, residents and medical students.
Occasional Duties
Providing coverage for faculty within the department as requested or needed.
Required Qualifications- Completion of, or in the process of completing an ACGME Internal Medicine Residency Program;
- Must hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas;
- Must hold or be eligible for ABIM board certification (or in training to become board eligible).
