Description
GeneralThe Storeskeeper reports to the Manager, Materials and Inventory Control and is responsible for shipping, receiving, storing, and issuing automotive and mechanical parts, materials, supplies, and equipment in support of San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) and the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain).
Essential Functions & Duties- Distribute automotive and mechanical parts, materials, supplies, and equipment to employees in the maintenance department.
- Monitor inventory levels and recommend restocking action.
- Operate inventory tracking systems and related databases.
- Communicate with vendors regarding shipments, discrepancies, and material availability.
Examples of Essential Duties- Assist with monthly cycle counts, annual physical inventory of all items within the stores area and reconcile discrepancies.
- Ensure items received match invoice or shipping specifications and reconcile discrepancies with vendor and Stores Coordinator.
- Coordinate the returns of material cores back to vendor when applicable.
- Prioritize and expedite receiving and processing of coach-down parts.
- Complete daily restocking request for supplies, parts, and equipment.
- Contact vendors for availability and shipping information for purchase orders.
- Maintain secure and clean Store’s area.
- Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect oneself, fellow employees and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervision: Works under the general supervision of the Manager, Materials, and Inventory Control, who assigns work, establishes goals and objectives, and evaluates performance.
Minimum QualificationsSufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:
- 2 years of inventory management and shipping/receiving experience in the areas of automotive, diesel, and mechanical materials, parts, and supplies.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of computerized inventory or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) is desirable.
- Requires frequent sitting, carrying, twisting, and turning, reaching, bending, stooping, and squatting.
- Able to obtain a Forklift License/Certification.
- Effective oral and written communications skills.
- Possess a valid California driver license with a good driving record.
