Description

Basic Functions:We invite your application for this part-time position coaching the Yuba College intercollegiate women’s basketball team. This position includes physical education teaching assignments, depending on the coach’s academic credentials, not to exceed 67% of a full-time load. Coaching and teaching responsibilities under the supervision of the Director of Kinesiology, Health, Athletics, and in coordination with athletic trainers and the equipment room and facility staff. The head coach plans, organizes, and administers all tasks associated with the intercollegiate program, including recruitment and selection of student-athletes; student-athlete academic and personal advising; coordination of student-athlete transfer to four-year institutions; practice and scrimmage scheduling; pre-season and in- season student-athlete conditioning; compliance of all state, conference, and institution recruitment, eligibility and participation rules; making travel arrangements; budget management; procurement of equipment and supplies; public and media relations; fundraising; scheduling officials; and conference responsibilities. This position includes credit instruction in Kinesiology/physical education/athletics, both theory (lecture) and activity classes. These assignments may include a combination of day, evening and weekend classes. Essential Duties Summary Demonstrated ability to:
Instruct all levels of physical education courses; motivate and teach in ways appropriate to the diverse backgrounds, cultures, and learning styles of the community college student; facilitate application of theory to practice; coach/instruct athletes in the fundamentals of the game and development of advanced athletic skills; analyze skill development and respond with individualized instruction; develop and implement conditioning programs to prepare for intercollegiate competition; develop a recruiting plan and recruit effectively; provide leadership, energy, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in athletics; supervise assistant coaches; communicate effectively and work cooperatively with instructors, coaches, administrators and support staff in a team-oriented environment; interpret and apply rules and regulations; develop promotional events and raise funds. Minimum qualifications for Coaching assignment:Minimum qualifications of education and experience for the teaching assignments: Desired/Preferred Qualifications Desired Professional Qualifications:
Knowledge of teaching and learning theories, principles and strategies as applied to a wide range of physical education courses; student learning outcomes specific to health or physical education courses; NCAA playing rules; NCAA & NAIA transfer guidelines; and comprehensive community college philosophy. Physical Demands Other Qualifications:
Valid California Driver’s License. Range/Step Class I - VII (Based on degree and teaching experience). Salary Range Steps 1: $1,558.22 - Step 10: $2,609.76 per unit. Benefits Information YCAFT Salary Schedule
